Dr Michelle Corral to Visit Bidi Bidi in Yumbe District with Hope and Christmas Gifts

KAMPALA, Uganda — West Nile has received encouraging news from the ongoing Fire Conference in Kampala following an announcement that international evangelist Dr Michelle Corral is expected to travel to Bidi Bidi Refugee Settlement in Yumbe District in December, taking her ministry closer to refugee and host communities in the region.

The announcement was made by Bishop Dr John Matogo Babu during a sideline interview with Osman Draga, journalist with Osmara Digital Media, on the margins of the Fire Conference in Kampala.

Bishop Babu said Dr Corral’s planned visit will provide an opportunity to bring the message of the Bible, prayer, encouragement and hope to people living in Bidi Bidi and surrounding host communities. He also said she is expected to bring Christmas gifts to the communities as part of the December outreach.

“We are grateful that the fire of this conference will not remain in Kampala. Dr Michelle Corral is coming to West Nile, specifically to Bidi Bidi in Yumbe District, in December. She will bring the Word of God, prayer, encouragement and a message of hope, together with Christmas gifts for the refugees and host communities,” Bishop Babu said.

He said the visit will be particularly meaningful for communities that have faced displacement, hardship and uncertainty. “Bidi Bidi is home to people who have gone through very difficult experiences. This visit will give them an opportunity to hear the Word of God, receive encouragement and be reminded that there is hope. The Christmas gifts will also be a gesture of love and care,” he said.

Bishop Babu added that the ministry will not focus only on refugees but will also embrace the Ugandan communities hosting them. “This is not only about the refugees. The host communities are also part of this ministry. We want everyone in the area to be encouraged, prayed for and to hear the message of Christ,” he said.

According to Bishop Babu, Dr Corral’s visit will help extend the impact of the Kampala conference to communities that may not have the opportunity to participate in major gatherings in the capital.

“The conference is not only for Kampala. We want the message to reach the regions, and West Nile is part of Uganda. We are looking forward to what God will do when Dr Michelle comes to Bidi Bidi,” he said.

The interview was conducted on the sidelines of the Fire Conference, where pastors and Christian leaders from Uganda and other African countries have gathered in Kampala.

Delegates attending the conference have travelled from Tanzania, Kenya, Nigeria, South Sudan and other African countries, while Ugandan participation includes representatives from different regions of the country.

West Nile is also represented, including delegates associated with refugee communities from Bidi Bidi, Imvepi giving the region a visible presence at the conference.
