Iganga Assistant RDC Pays Tribute to Late Tooro King Oyo, Hails His Legacy of Faith and Service

IGANGA — Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Iganga District, Kiwala Caroline Tahir, has joined the Royal Family, the Tooro Kingdom and Ugandans in mourning the death of His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, describing him as a generational leader whose life inspired Uganda’s youth.

In a condolence message, Tahir said the late King’s life was remarkable because Ugandans had witnessed his transformation from a three-year-old child who ascended the Tooro throne in 1995 into a respected and dignified monarch who carried the responsibilities of the Kingdom for more than three decades.

She said Omukama Oyo’s upbringing and reign demonstrated that leadership is not necessarily defined by age, but by character, wisdom, responsibility and service.

According to Tahir, the late King became an important source of inspiration for young people, demonstrating that youth can take on significant leadership responsibilities when guided by strong values, discipline and faith. Tahir also highlighted the King’s Christian faith and humility, saying his public life was marked by respect for people, a gentle character and an emphasis on seeking God’s guidance in leadership.

She credited Omukama Oyo with championing issues including education, youth empowerment, healthcare, tourism, environmental conservation and unity among the people of Tooro.

Tahir described the late monarch as a symbol of cultural pride, peace and progressive traditional leadership, adding that his legacy would continue to influence future generations. The Assistant RDC also expressed condolences to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, whom she described as having played a guardian and fatherly role in the life of the young King.

She commended the President for the support, guidance and care extended to Omukama Oyo throughout his life and reign. Tahir extended her condolences to the Queen Mother, Best Kemigisa, the Royal Family, the Tooro Kingdom administration and the Batooro, urging them to remain strong during the mourning period.

She concluded by praying for comfort for the bereaved and eternal rest for the late King. “Omukama Atulize. Rukirabasaija Agutwikire,” Tahir said.
