YUMBE DISTRICT — Pajama elders have offered blessing prayers for Seaborn Star Football Club ahead of the 2026/27 season, calling for unity, discipline, teamwork and community support as the club seeks to nurture young football talent and promote Pajama through sports.
The blessing prayers took place at Ajumbiri Village, Diimu Parish, Arafa Sub-county, Yumbe District, where elders gathered to pray for the players, their football equipment and the club's leadership ahead of the new campaign.
Led by elder Avua Lino, the session brought together community elders who prayed for the team's success, protection from injuries, strength and cooperation among players, supporters and club management.
The gathering also recognised the efforts of Aluma Benard, founder of Seaborn Star Football Club, for establishing the team as a platform to identify, nurture and promote talented young people in the area through football.
Benard Thanks Elders for Their Support
In his opening remarks, Benard thanked the Pajama elders for accepting the invitation to offer blessing prayers for the team and for their support of the club's development.
He emphasised the importance of involving elders in the club's activities, noting that their guidance and encouragement could strengthen the relationship between Seaborn Star and the wider community.
Benard explained that he started the club to give talented young people in the area an opportunity to develop their sporting abilities and pursue their football ambitions.
The initiative aims to provide a platform where young people can demonstrate their potential, improve their skills and participate in organised sporting activities.
Through Seaborn Star, Benard seeks to encourage young talent and create opportunities for players to develop their abilities while promoting discipline, teamwork and responsibility.
He thanked the elders for their participation and called for continued cooperation as the team prepares for the challenges and opportunities of the 2026/27 season.
The gathering reflected the club's desire to build a strong relationship with the community as it works towards its sporting ambitions.
Elders Pray for Goals, Strength and Protection
Avua Lino led the blessing prayers, asking God to grant Seaborn Star strength, unity and success throughout the coming season.
In a symbolic prayer for the players' performance, Lino prayed that their football boots would help them score goals and would not break or become damaged.
His prayer reflected the elders' hopes that the players would remain fit, avoid injuries and perform well during the season.
During the session, the elders held a football, a white team jersey and a football boot as they prayed for the club before passing the items from one participant to another.
The symbolic handover continued throughout the gathering, with each elder offering prayers and words of encouragement for the players and the club's leadership.
The elders called on the team to remain united, cooperate with one another and maintain the discipline required to build a competitive football club.
Their messages also emphasised the need for players to respect their leadership, support one another and remain committed to the team's objectives.
Former Player Calls for Teamwork
Elder John Kolea, who disclosed that he had also played football, prayed for teamwork and cooperation among the players.
He acknowledged that Seaborn Star had experienced some changes during the previous season but noted that the issues had since been addressed.
Kolea encouraged the players and club leadership to maintain mutual understanding, resolve differences and work together towards shared goals.
He emphasised that success would require the team to learn from previous experiences and approach the new season with renewed determination.
His message highlighted the importance of combining individual talent with collective effort, discipline and commitment to the club's ambitions.
The elders also called for unity among supporters, stressing the importance of community encouragement in motivating players and strengthening the club.
Elders Ask God to Strengthen Club Founder
