Arsenal continued their perfect start to the 2026/27 Premier League season with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park on Monday night.
The decisive moment came in the 59th minute, when Bukayo Saka converted from close range following a dangerous delivery from Riccardo Calafiori. The goal was enough to give Mikel Arteta's side all three points.
It was not Arsenal's most fluent performance, but the Gunners showed the defensive discipline and patience needed to win a difficult away match. Villa struggled to seriously test David Raya and finished the game without a shot on target.
The victory gives Arsenal six points from their opening two league matches, following their opening-day win over Coventry City. The result also gives Arteta another important milestone, with the victory coming in his 250th Premier League match in charge of Arsenal.
For Aston Villa, it was another frustrating evening as Unai Emery's side remain without a point or a goal after their first two league matches. Arsenal will now turn their attention to their next major test, a Premier League clash with Chelsea, as they look to continue their strong start to the campaign.
