YUMBE DISTRICT — Muslim religious leaders from Lurujo Muslim County have conducted an Islamic inheritance exercise involving the clothes of the late Ame Nuru, former Pajama clan leader, during a gathering at Adiofe Village, Diimu Parish, Arafa Sub-county, Yumbe District.

The exercise took place on Saturday, November 7, 2026, alongside a 40th-day Dua held in remembrance of the late clan leader, who died on September 2, 2026.

The Mirath exercise was conducted by Sheikh Anyori Safi, the Mirath Sheikh of Lurujo Muslim County, under the oversight of Sheikh Hassan Kenyi, the Deputy Kadhi of Lurujo Muslim County. During the exercise, the late Ame Nuru's clothes were distributed among his children and relatives in accordance with Islamic religious guidance.

However, the distribution of his land was postponed after his children requested that the exercise be conducted on another day when Pajama clan elders would be present.

The request reflects the family's desire to involve traditional clan leadership in discussions concerning the deceased's land inheritance, particularly given his position as the Pajama clan leader until his death.

The land distribution is therefore expected to take place separately, with the participation of Pajama clan elders. The gathering brought together family members and Muslim religious leadership for prayers and the fulfilment of inheritance-related responsibilities following the death of the former clan leader.

Islamic inheritance law, commonly known as Mirath, provides established guidelines for distributing a deceased Muslim's estate among eligible heirs. It identifies the rightful beneficiaries and guides the allocation of inheritance in accordance with Islamic principles.

For the Pajama clan, the death of Ame Nuru on September 2, 2026, marked the loss of a traditional leader who served the community until his passing.

The November 7 gathering was therefore significant both as a religious occasion and as part of the family's efforts to address matters left behind by the deceased.

With the distribution of his clothes completed, attention now turns to the proposed meeting involving his children and Pajama clan elders to address the inheritance of his land. The developments at Adiofe Village highlight the importance of religious guidance, family participation and traditional leadership in addressing inheritance matters within the community.
