Uganda Journalists Union Congratulates Kabaka Mutebi II on Coronation Anniversary

KAMPALA, Uganda — On behalf of the Uganda Journalists Union (UJU) and the entire media fraternity, the UJU President, Ms. Evelyne Nalule, has extended warm congratulations to ****, the Kabaka of Buganda, on the occasion of his Coronation Anniversary.
Ms. Nalule joined the people of Buganda and well-wishers across Uganda and beyond in celebrating the Kabaka's visionary leadership, describing it as a driving force behind peace, unity, cultural preservation, and socio-economic transformation.
A Legacy of National Development The Uganda Journalists Union acknowledged the Buganda Kingdom's significant contribution to national development through various initiatives that have positively impacted millions of Ugandans. Among the Kingdom's flagship achievements are the annual Kabaka Birthday Run, which has strengthened awareness and action against sickle cell disease and HIV/AIDS, as well as nationwide blood donation campaigns that continue to save lives.
The Kingdom has also expanded access to education through the Kabaka Education Fund, which has supported thousands of learners with bursaries, while institutions such as **** continue to provide higher education opportunities.
In agriculture, the Emmwanyi Terimba (Coffee is Rewarding) initiative has empowered farming households, increased coffee production, and contributed to Uganda's export earnings.
The Kingdom's efforts to preserve cultural heritage, including the protection of ****, have strengthened Uganda's tourism sector while safeguarding the country's rich history for future generations. Media as a Development Partner Ms. Nalule reaffirmed the media's commitment to supporting development initiatives through responsible, accurate, and professional journalism. She praised the cordial relationship between the Buganda Kingdom and the media, noting that journalists continue to play an important role in documenting the Kingdom's development programmes, promoting civic engagement, and preserving Uganda's cultural heritage.
Looking Ahead As the Kingdom marks another Coronation Anniversary, the Uganda Journalists Union reaffirmed its commitment to promoting ethical journalism that supports community development and respects Uganda's cultural institutions.
The Union wished His Majesty continued good health, long life, and wisdom as he leads the Buganda Kingdom toward greater prosperity and national progress.
