October 18, 2026 KAMPALA — Osmara Digital Media is strengthening its presence across Africa through a growing correspondent network connecting Southern Africa, West Africa and Eastern Uganda, bringing regional developments and community stories to a wider continental audience.
Operating under the slogan Africa in Focus, the platform is building a reporting structure that brings together people working in different parts of the continent, with a focus on political developments, business, trade, diplomacy, agriculture, governance, culture and community development.
The network currently includes Mbuyiseni Mathonsi, covering Southern Africa from South Africa; Justice Kaakyir Baako NTARMAH, responsible for West Africa from Ghana; and Barasa Richard, covering Eastern Uganda from Iganga.
Their assignments reflect Osmara's ambition to connect African regions through locally informed journalism and provide readers with a broader understanding of developments shaping the continent.
Southern Africa: Mbuyiseni Mathonsi
Based in South Africa, Mbuyiseni Mathonsi is responsible for Osmara Digital Media's reporting across Southern Africa, particularly developments within the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
His coverage will examine regional cooperation, trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, employment, governance and social development.
Through reporting on regional initiatives and community experiences, Mathonsi will help explain how economic and political decisions affect citizens, businesses and institutions across Southern Africa.
The assignment will also provide opportunities to highlight cross-border partnerships and development initiatives contributing to regional integration.
West Africa: Justice Kaakyir Baako NTARMAH
In Ghana, Justice Kaakyir Baako NTARMAH serves as Osmara Digital Media's West Africa correspondent, covering developments across the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) region. His reporting responsibilities include governance, regional diplomacy, business, agriculture, youth empowerment, security and cultural affairs.
Through his coverage, Osmara aims to connect audiences with developments across West Africa while highlighting the experiences of entrepreneurs, young people, community leaders and institutions. The reporting will seek to go beyond official announcements to examine issues affecting communities and explore initiatives addressing regional challenges.
Eastern Uganda: Barasa Richard
Based in Iganga, Barasa Richard strengthens Osmara Digital Media's reporting from Eastern Uganda, covering public events, governance, education, business, community development and activities involving local leaders and institutions. His assignment will bring greater visibility to grassroots developments and community initiatives that may receive limited attention beyond their immediate locations.
Through event reporting and human-interest journalism, Barasa will connect local experiences with broader national and continental conversations. His coverage will also highlight public services, local enterprise and development initiatives that influence the lives and livelihoods of communities across Eastern Uganda. Connecting African Stories Across Borders
The correspondent network reflects Osmara Digital Media's commitment to developing an African-centred reporting model that connects local experiences with regional and continental developments.
Across Africa, countries face shared challenges and opportunities involving employment, trade, food security, investment, migration, education and access to public services. Reporting these issues from different regional perspectives can help audiences understand both their local implications and their wider continental significance.
By working with correspondents who understand the environments they cover, Osmara Digital Media aims to provide reporting grounded in local knowledge while maintaining a broader African perspective.
The approach also recognises that important African stories do not originate exclusively in national capitals. Communities, businesses, farmers, young people and local institutions all contribute to the continent's development and deserve meaningful representation in the news.
As its correspondent network grows, the Osmara intends to expand its geographical coverage and strengthen collaboration with journalists across Africa.
Its editorial ambition is to provide accurate, balanced and relevant reporting that connects communities, informs public discussion and highlights developments affecting the continent.
Under its Africa in Focus banner, Osmara Digital Media is working towards a broader continental newsroom in which journalists from different regions contribute to a shared understanding of Africa's political, economic, social and cultural landscape.
From Southern Africa to West Africa and Eastern Uganda, Osmara is growing network towards connecting African stories across borders and bringing the continent's diverse voices to a wider audience.
