South Sudan Delegation Ignites Kampala Conference With Call for African Christian Revival

KAMPALA, Uganda — A powerful delegation from South Sudan led by Amb. Joseph Lupai Charles ignited the second day of the East Africa Fire and Anointing Pastors Conference in Kampala with a passionate call for African Christians to unite, rise and take the Gospel to the nations.

The two-day conference, taking place at the Nsambya Youth Sharing Centre, has brought together pastors, church leaders and Christian delegates from Uganda, South Sudan and other African countries. The conference runs from August 24 to 25.

The South Sudan delegation became one of the highlights of the second day when it was invited onto the stage. The congregation burst into applause and cheers as the visiting delegation walked forward. The excitement continued as members introduced themselves, with each introduction drawing warm responses from worshippers who welcomed the South Sudanese leaders to the gathering.

The atmosphere rose even further when Amb. Joseph Lupai Charles stepped forward to deliver the delegation’s message. Charles, who coordinates Dr Michelle Kora’s ministry in South Sudan, spoke passionately about Africa’s role in the future of Christian evangelism and the need for believers across the continent to work together.

His message drew loud cheers and sustained applause as he called on Africans to recognise their responsibility to carry the Gospel beyond the continent. “I see a shift coming from Africa to the nations,” Charles declared. The statement energised the congregation, with worshippers responding with cheers as he spoke of a new wave of Christian revival emerging from Africa.

Amb. urged Christians to overcome divisions created by national boundaries and denominations and instead strengthen unity within the body of Christ. “African people, it is our time to rise and shine,” he said.

He told delegates that the Kampala gathering was an opportunity to strengthen relationships, share experiences and renew their commitment to Christian ministry. Charles said his team has hosted three major conferences in Juba, South Sudan, and described the Kampala conference as another important platform for strengthening connections among Christian leaders across the region.

He also encouraged delegates to view their presence at the conference as part of a greater purpose. “You are not here by accident; you are here by the purpose of God,” he told the congregation.

The South Sudan delegation also emphasised the role of women in Christian leadership, encouraging women to rise to their responsibilities as leaders and peace-makers and to use their influence to advance the Gospel. The message fitted into the wider themes of the conference, which focus on prayer, spiritual empowerment, Christian leadership and strengthening the ability of churches to serve their communities.

The presence of the South Sudan delegation further highlighted the growing Christian links between Uganda and South Sudan, while its participation alongside other African delegations gave the conference a strong regional character.

The second day is also expected to attract senior Ugandan leadership, with Vice President Jessica Alupo expected to join the conference as pastors and delegates continue with the programme.

Her expected participation adds a national leadership dimension to a gathering that has brought together religious leaders from Uganda and across the region.

As the conference continues at Nsambya Youth Sharing Centre, delegates are expected to remain engaged in worship, preaching, prayer and messages focused on spiritual renewal, Christian leadership and service to vulnerable communities.

For the South Sudan delegation, the Kampala gathering has provided an opportunity to strengthen ties with Ugandan and other African Christian leaders while reinforcing its message that Africa can play a greater role in taking the Gospel to the world.
