The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) has distributed Android tablets to Muslim leaders from East and West Buganda Muslim Regions to improve communication, research and information management under its Ten-Year Strategic Development Plan.
His Eminence Dr Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, presided over the handover ceremony on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the UMSC boardroom. The beneficiaries included Regional Assistants to the Mufti for East and West Buganda, regional secretaries, members of the Majlis Al-Ulama, representatives of the Shura and Advisory Council, and district Kadhis from the two regions.
Sheikh Mubaje said the tablets were intended to equip Muslim leaders with the tools needed to access, acquire and manage knowledge in an increasingly digital world.
He urged the recipients to use the devices responsibly to enhance communication, conduct research and maintain important records and other useful information. “We urge you to put them to proper use in order to strengthen communication, do more research and store all kinds of data and other useful information,” Sheikh Mubaje said as he handed each beneficiary a tablet and its accessories.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Mufti, His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa; the Second Deputy Mufti, Dr Sheikh Hafiz Muhammad Harunah Bukenya; UMSC Secretary General Hadji Abbas Muluubya Ssekyanzi; Deputy Secretary General in charge of Finance and Administration, Counsel Haj Muhammad Ali Aluma; and Deputy Secretary General in charge of Development and Planning, Abdul-Razaq Arinda, among other officials.
Earlier, Muluubya described the ongoing changes at UMSC as unprecedented and called on Muslim leaders to embrace teamwork and remain committed to transforming their communities.
He emphasised the importance of collective effort in advancing the council's development agenda and improving service delivery to Muslims.
