DIDCOT, United Kingdom — 16 September 2026: NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte visited the United Kingdom, where he held discussions with Prime Minister Andy Burnham and highlighted the importance of defence investment, technological innovation and strengthened transatlantic security cooperation.

The visit included a tour of the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Didcot, where Mr Rutte and the Prime Minister met representatives from the defence sector, apprentices and staff. The NATO Secretary General emphasised the broader economic benefits of defence investment, including job creation, skills development and economic growth.
