KAMPALA — Rev. Dr. Triumph Ikechukwu has urged Ugandan pastors to learn from Nigeria’s experience in building a strong Pentecostal and charismatic Christian movement, particularly through evangelism, leadership development, prayer and community transformation.

Ikechukwu made the remarks during a press conference at Platinum Hotel, Nsambya, Kampala, where he responded to a question from Osmara Digital Media about what Ugandan pastors can learn from Nigeria’s strong Pentecostal movement.

He said Ugandan pastors should not simply copy the Nigerian model but study the principles that have contributed to the growth and influence of Nigerian churches.

Ikechukwu highlighted the importance of strong leadership, prayer, evangelism, mentoring young ministers and reaching communities with practical programmes.

He said churches must go beyond preaching from the pulpit and demonstrate Christianity through service to communities, particularly by supporting young people and vulnerable families.

Ikechukwu also encouraged Ugandan pastors to work together and strengthen partnerships among churches instead of operating in isolation.

“The Church has a responsibility to transform lives and communities,” Ikechukwu said, stressing that Christian leaders must combine spiritual ministry with practical service.

He said Nigeria’s experience shows that churches can become powerful instruments for evangelism and social transformation when leaders have a clear vision and invest in the next generation.

However, Ikechukwu cautioned Ugandan pastors against measuring success only by the size of congregations or church buildings.

Instead, he encouraged them to focus on the number of lives transformed, communities reached and young leaders equipped to continue the work of the Church.

His remarks came as Christian leaders prepare for the East Africa Fire and Anointing Conference, bringing together ministers and believers from Uganda and other countries.
