BABALANDA LAUNCHES ONE VOICE27 DIGITAL EVANGELISM MISSION IN IGANGA IGANGA | 6 SEPTEMBER 2026

Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Milly Babirye Babalanda, has launched the “One Voice27 Mission for All, Hope Starts Here” evangelism initiative at the Iganga Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church, calling upon believers to embrace digital platforms as a new mission field for spreading the Word of God.

The colourful launch brought together hundreds of believers, church elders, youth leaders and members of the wider community, who gathered in a spirit of faith, unity and hope.

In her address, Minister Babalanda conveyed warm greetings from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President, Hajji Yunus Kakande, and staff of the Office of the President.

She commended the SDA Church leadership for embracing digital evangelism at a time when smartphones and social media have become an important part of everyday life, particularly among young people. “Your phones are a powerful mission field. In your hand, you hold a church and a Bible,” Babalanda told the congregation.

She encouraged believers, especially the youth, to use their digital platforms constructively by sharing messages of faith, hope, love and moral responsibility instead of engaging in harmful or unproductive online activities.

The Minister urged the faithful to consider their internet data as a resource that can be used to reach and inspire others with the Gospel. “Instead of using data bundles online to sin, use data bundles to win souls by preaching and spreading the Word of God,” she said, encouraging believers to let their online presence reflect Christian values and the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Babalanda also emphasised the importance of responsible exercise of freedom of worship and freedom of expression, noting that these freedoms should contribute to peace, unity, patriotism and moral development within communities.

She commended President Museveni for what she described as continued support for faith-based initiatives and for maintaining an environment in which people can freely worship and practise their faith.

The Minister further called upon parents, religious leaders and cultural leaders from different denominations and communities to work together in guiding young people towards responsible use of social media.

She said the digital space presents both opportunities and challenges, stressing that faith communities can use technology to promote positive values and reach people who may never have an opportunity to attend a physical church service.

The OneVoice27 Mission is a global evangelistic campaign of the Seventh-day Adventist Church designed to mobilise church members to use personal networks as well as digital, radio and television platforms to spread messages of hope and faith. The year-long movement officially commenced with a global launch on 5 September 2026, paving the way for coordinated evangelistic and community outreach activities around the world.

At the Iganga launch, Mr. Nabala Tonny, Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Iganga Municipality, pledged local administrative and security support towards the successful implementation of the initiative.

Nabala said the RDC's office would continue working with religious and community stakeholders to maintain a peaceful and secure environment in which initiatives promoting moral renewal, unity and community development can thrive.

The launch concluded with renewed calls for believers to make responsible use of digital platforms and to become ambassadors of hope, peace and faith in their communities. The organisers said the initiative seeks to demonstrate that the message of the Gospel can reach beyond traditional places of worship and touch lives wherever people connect—including in the rapidly expanding digital space.
