Uganda Ambassador to Sudan Honoured With International Excellence Award

Uganda’s Ambassador to Sudan and Special Presidential Envoy to Qatar, Amb. Ssemuddu Rashid, has received an International Excellence Award from the Islamic University of Medina in recognition of his outstanding contribution to diplomacy, international cooperation and public service.

Amb. Ssemuddu presented the award during a courtesy meeting with former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda, where they also discussed Uganda’s candidature for the position of United Nations Secretary-General, Ambassador Olara Otunnu.

During the meeting, Amb. Ssemuddu expressed his sincere appreciation to Rt. Hon. Rugunda for his unwavering support and guidance throughout his academic journey at the University of Medina.

He acknowledged Rugunda’s mentorship, encouragement and the opportunities extended to him over the years, which he said contributed significantly to his personal and professional development.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the two leaders to discuss Uganda’s continued support for Ambassador Olara Otunnu’s candidature for UN Secretary-General, as Uganda seeks to advance its voice and leadership on the international stage.
